Steamboat Finale!

What a fantastic race to end a fantastic season with! The Steamboat Springs Stage Race was my favorite race last year, and probably the same this year, although you always like the races where you do well!!

To add to Megan's post:
Friday's TT was abysmal for me, I finished 17th, lacking a TT bike and general motivation and will power!

Saturday's circuit race was redeeming, I got off the front with Jeannie Longo for about 5 minutes, whereupon she slowly (not so slowly) pulled away from me, in a gruelling headwind! Crazy! My 4th place finish here moved me up to 5th in GC.

Sunday's road race was WINDY, which seems to be a big weather theme around here this year ...Once again, Jeannie made a break very early in the race, and Megan, Toni Bradshaw and myself tacked on. Once again I was shelled, to find myself being picked up by the chase group of about 10 girls. We picked up Megan and had a hard time getting girls organized, making for a very long 50 mile race. I made a small attack at the top of a rise in the tailwind about 5 miles from the finish, and Megan was the ideal teammate and sat up for me and nobody closed the gap, allowing me to get 4th and put some time into my GC contenders.

Monday was the day I was looking forward to most-it's a great, safe, fast crit course. Megan and I had some pretty big goals for the day, and we pulled them all off! We both got sweet money primes, and Megan had a super strong 2nd place finish, while I popped both my lungs to outsprint Amy, for 3rd, which gave me the time bonus and moved me up to 4th GC!

My overall goals for the weekend were to finish higher than 6th GC (that's what I finished in last year), and to get on the podium one last time before the season ended, which I did, with Jeannie and Megan.

What an awesome way to end the season, and I had such fun racing with Treads all year! Congrats to all the other Treads women who braved the wind and the 4 day race!
